MOT Test Prices Could Reach £372

by | 1 Mar 2024 | News

It is predicted that in the next 50 years, MOT test prices could rise significantly, due to the ongoing Cost of Living crisis, and “exponential increases” in garage costs, rules and fees for motorists.

If inflation rates remain the same, car prices could increase to £372 and motorcycle prices could rise to £201 by 2074.Currently, MOT test stations can charge a maximum amount based on the type of vehicle. According to research, drivers will face bills of thousands of pounds for the simple task of keeping their cars on the road if car repairs continue at the same rate as they have been.

The maximum fee for a car is currently £54.85 and £29.65 for a standard motorcycle.

Due to the cost, some motorists might refrain from making essential repairs, so it’s imperative to keep car repairs as affordable as possible so that all motorists can afford to stay safe on the road.
